Phil Foden: Man City set to open talks over ‘jaw-dropping’ deal – sources

Phil Foden wants to extend his stay at Man City with a jaw-dropping new deal that will match the top earners at the club and in the Premier League, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old attacker has three years remaining on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium but he is set to open talks over an extension.

Sources have told Football Insider that Foden wants a pay rise in his new contract to match the top earners at City.

It is understood that there is a willingness from all parties to get a deal over the line with City eager to keep hold of their academy star.

Foden signed an extension to his deal in 2022 which keeps him at City until 2027 and reportedly tripled his wages to £200,000 per week.

Guardiola piled praise on the youngster this week, claiming he is “the best player in the Premier League right now”.

During his seven years with the City first-team, Foden has won 12 major trophies including five Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Should Foden agree a new bumper deal, his wages will add to City’s record-breaking £423million wage bill revealed in their 2022-23 accounts.
