Phil Foden sends five-word message after Man City turnaround
Phil Foden has sent a five-word message to the Man City fans following their first game of 2025.
Pep Guardiola’s team picked up another important three points at the Etihad Stadium as they defeated West Ham 4-1 on Saturday (4 January).
An own goal from Vladimir Coufal, a brace by Erling Haaland and a goal from Foden wrapped up the result and allowed City to start 2025 in style after a wretched end to last year.
City won just two of their final 14 matches in all competitions to round out 2024 in dismal form, which resulted in them dropping to sixth in the table.
Foden was pleased to see the team back on track as he said, “Best way to start 2025” on his Instagram.
It was only Foden’s second goal of the season in the Premier League and the fifth generally, in what has been a tough individual season.

City supporters will be hoping Foden’s recent performances are a sign of things to come in 2025 for the 24-year-old who won the PFA’s Players Player of the Year award last season.
Guardiola’s men are only two points away from the top four, but they are currently 11 points adrift of the current league leaders.
City are back in action on Saturday (11 January) in the FA Cup against Salford City.
That will then be followed by a return to the Premier League on Tuesday (14 January” against Brentford.
