Phil Foden sends ‘huge’ Man City message, Jack Grealish and John Stones react

Phil Foden delivered a positive message following Manchester City’s hard-fought victory over Tottenham, garnering reactions from his teammates.

Man City emerged with a narrow 1-0 win against Spurs in a tightly contested match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 26 February, thanks to a goal from the returning Erling Haaland.

Foden did not start, and instead he came off the bench for Omar Marmoush in the 74th minute, playing on the right wing after struggling in a false nine role against Liverpool.

Man City fans were critical of Foden’s performance in the previous match in a disappointing 2-0 loss to Arne Slot’s side on 23 February.

However, the team bounced back impressively with their win in North London. After the match, Foden took the opportunity to celebrate the victory, sharing his enthusiasm with fans despite the recent scrutiny he’s faced.

Jack Grealish and John Stones among Man City players to react to Phil Foden

Foden celebrated his contribution to City’s win by posting multiple photos of his brief cameo on Instagram, captioning it, “A huge three points tonight.”

His post drew responses from teammates, including Jack Grealish, who was also substituted on for the final few minutes, as well as Jeremy Doku and the injured John Stones.

Earlier in the season, Man City fans voiced their concerns about Foden’s form, particularly regarding uncharacteristic mistakes. This criticism marks a significant contrast to last year, leading to questions about his consistency.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider in November that Man City were worried about Foden’s performances this season as by by that point, he failed to score a single league goal.

Despite the scrutiny, Pep Guardiola continues to support the 24-year-old, who has made 35 appearances across all competitions, netting 10 goals and providing five assists in 2,440 minutes of play this season.
