Phil Foden sends Man City training ground message pre-Liverpool showdown

Man City playmaker Phil Foden appears focused as he sent a training ground message before his side face league leaders Liverpool on Sunday (December 1).

Three consecutive Premier League defeats have left Pep Guardiola’s side in unfamiliar territory, putting them at serious risk of falling 12 points behind Liverpool in the title race should they lose on Sunday.

City’s troubles extend beyond the title race. Victories for Chelsea and Arsenal could see them slip out of the Champions League spots entirely, as their star-studded squad continues to struggle.

Foden, 24, is one of those players who have failed to live up to their usually lofty expectations, providing just one league goal contribution so far this season.

Just six months after winning the Premier League Player of the Season award, the England international has found himself on the periphery of Guardiola’s squad, starting just five of his nine league games, yielding 551 total minutes.

He has found some solace in the Champions League, however, scoring three goals and providing one assist in five appearances, four of which were from the first whistle.

The coming festive period will likely make or break Man City’s season, with games against Juventus, Man United, and Aston Villa in December.

Determined to help his side out of their dismal run of form, Foden took to Instagram to let fans know he’s putting the hours in.

On the positive side for City, Liverpool will be without towering centre-back Ibrahima Konate on Sunday after the Frenchman confirmed he is set for a spell on the sideline.

City will face high-flying Nottingham Forest in the league just three days after the game against Liverpool in what could be another tricky fixture.
