Phil Foden sends message to Man City fans after teammate’s last-gasp howler
Man City ace Phil Foden has taken to social media to rally the troops after scoring a brace in their 2-2 Premier League draw with Brentford on Tuesday (January 14).
The 24-year-old opened the scoring in the 66th minute, latching on to Kevin de Bruyne’s pinpoint cross and slotting past Mark Flekken in the Brentford goal.
Foden bagged his second just 12 minutes later when Flekken could only parry Savinho’s initial shot directly into his path.
Yoane Wissa started Brentford’s comeback in the 82nd minute, scoring from close range after Nathan Ake missed the chance to intercept Mads Roerslev’s cross.
Stefan Ortega’s howler gave Brentford an equaliser against the run of play after the goalkeeper could not keep Christian Norgaard’s header out of the net.
Phil Foden finds some form as Man City drop points yet again
The England international has struggled this season, starting 18 of his 24 games across all competitions, scoring seven goals, and providing three assists in his 1698 minutes of action.
A win over Brentford would have seen Pep Guardiola’s side return to the Champions League qualification spots with Chelsea failing to beat Bournemouth.
Man City are now four Premier League games unbeaten having won one, drawn two, and lost nine of their previous 12 games across all competitions.
Foden took to Instagram after the 2-2 draw with Brentford to rally the troops, simply captioning his post: “We keep going.”

City have four games remaining in January, including crucial Champions League ties with PSG and Club Brugge.
Up next for the current champions is a trip to Ipswich town, as Guardiola’s side seek to salvage something from a dismal season.
