Phil Foden shares Man City training ground update after horrific development

Man City ace Phil Foden has taken to social media to share a training ground update ahead of their pivotal Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Saturday (December 21).

The 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Man City fell to a last-gasp 2-1 defeat to bitter rivals Man United in their last Premier League game, seeing them fall out of the Champions League spots.

Pep Guardiola’s side face a crucial trip to Aston Villa, knowing a defeat could see the hosts leapfrog them in the table and potentially leave City as low as ninth by the end of the round of fixtures.

City have won just one of their last 11 games across all competitions in a horrific spell, marking their worst run of form since Guardiola took over in 2016.

A 2-0 defeat to Juventus leaves them in a precarious position in the Champions League too, sitting in 22nd in the new league phase with French champions PSG up next.

Phil Foden struggles as torrid Man City run continues ahead of crucial Aston Villa match

Foden has failed to recapture the form that earned him the 2023-24 Premier League Player of the Season award, starting 13 of his 18 games across all competitions, scoring just three goals, and providing two assists in 1240 minutes of action.

Determined to end both his and City’s poor run of form, the winger took to Instagram to share an image of himself headed to training.

City have a favourable run of fixtures after the Villa game, facing bottom-half sides in their next five Premier League games.

The current champions are seeing their hopes of a record fifth consecutive Premier League title fade, sitting nine points below Arne Slot’s league-leading Liverpool side.
