‘Philippe Clement has insulted Rangers fans’ before Celtic showdown – Sky update
Rangers supporters have admitted they feel insulted by Philippe Clement’s comments ahead of their upcoming fixtures against Tottenham and Celtic.
The 50-year-old told Sky Sports, “Maybe we need to say [the two games are] financially out of our league, but we’re going to compete.”
The Light Blues will face Spurs in their latest Europa League group stage match before playing their Old Firm rivals in the Scottish League Cup final at the weekend, but Clement has attempted to lower expectations with his comments.
Rangers have dealt with serious financial problems in recent times, with their latest accounts revealing that the club’s net losses increased by £4.1million to £17.2million.
That has restricted what business Clement has been able to do within the transfer market recently as he hasn’t had the same level of resources available to him.
However, Rangers will have the same opportunity as Celtic to claim the first trophy of the season on Sunday (15 December) when the two teams meet at Hampden Park.
Rangers fans are disappointed in Philippe Clement’s excuses
Supporters were left reeling with Clement’s comments as they claimed there’s “no point” in turning up for the upcoming games if that is the mindset.
Others have stated that what he said was “completely unacceptable” while others believe it shows how far the club has “fallen” in recent times.
