Phillips ‘amazed’ by Bowen amid ‘big’ West Ham transfer claim

Kevin Phillips has heaped praise on “the amazing” Jarrod Bowen after West Ham lost to Southampton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the 2000 European Golden Shoe winner claimed the 25-year-old will attract the attention of “some of the biggest clubs” if he continues to develop at such a rate.

Bowen started for the Hammers on Boxing Day and grabbed an assist in a 3-2 home defeat against Southampton.

It comes after a sublime solo goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday.

Phillips lauded Bowen for the composure he showed in the League Cup against Spurs.

“I have said all along that Bowen is an amazing player,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“If he keeps developing at this rate he will be looked at by some of the biggest clubs and that is no disrespect to West Ham.

“The other night he showed his class with that finish. It was a lovely short turn. He sent Eric Dier for a hotdog before scoring. He showed composure with that finish.

“It was no coincidence though. He is showing his ability week in, week out. That is why David Moyes selects him every week.

“I think Bowen is one of those player who will just get better and better. I’m a big fan”
