Phillips hails ‘amazing’ Edwards after Liverpool source’s £117m Salah talks update today
Kevin Phillips has tipped Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards to agree a new deal with Mohamed Salah before he leaves next year.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the 2000 European Golden Shoe winner claimed Edwards “will be desperate” to conclude an extension for Liverpool’s talisman.
Salah, 29, has just over 18 months to run on his current contract at Anfield.

Football Insider revealed on 29 October that the forward’s representative, Ramy Abbas, wants a deal worth £500,000-a-week for his client.
The latest from a Reds source today on Salah’s contract talks is that negotiations are ongoing.
The deal Abbas and his star client want equates to £117million across four-and-a-half years.
Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group want a deal in place before the January window opens.
When asked by Football Insider if Edwards’ legacy at Anfield would be tarnished if a deal was not reached, Phillips said:
“There’s no doubt about it, he will want to sort that contract out before he leaves. He will be desperate to get it sorted and I’m sure he will.
“I think some people would say his time at Liverpool would be tarnished if Salah doesn’t sign a new deal and leaves at the end of the season. I certainly don’t see it like that.
“He’s amazing at what he does, and done an amazing job in my eyes in terms of player recruitment. You cannot take that away from him.”

Salah has been in scintillating form this season.
He has contributed 16 goals and seven assists in 16 appearances across all competitions.
