Kevin Phillips revealed he has been “impressed” by Pascal Struijk after he signed a new Leeds United contract.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs, the former England striker is convinced Elland Road is the right place for the 21-year-old.
Leeds confirmed last Friday that the versatile enforcer has put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him tied down at Elland Road until the summer of 2024.

Struijk, who made his first-team debut last season, has played as both a centre-back and a defensive midfielder during his time under Marcelo Bielsa.
The Holland youth international did suffer the humiliating experience of being substituted after 21 minutes of the 3-0 Premier League win against Aston Villa las month.
He was being used in an unfamiliar defensive midfield role in that match, but did bounce back to start against Crystal Palace two matches later.
“Always great to tie a player down on a long-term deal,” Phillips told Football Insider. “He has made an impression this season.
“Now that he has signed a new contract that is his future forgotten about and they will now look to others.
“He has impressed me this season but not just him, virtually all of the Leeds players this year.
“Struijk is clearly happy to stay, fight for his place in the first team and keep improving.”
Struijk has played a total of 10 times for Leeds since signing from Ajax in the summer of 2018.
He is a centre-back by trade but has filled in for Kalvin Phillips in a deep-lying midfield role on a few occasions.
