Phillips predicts Rice will quit West Ham this summer after being stunned by new claim
Kevin Phillips has told West Ham to make Declan Rice their top earner or risk losing him to a rival club.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest claims on Rice’s future.
On Thursday (1st July) The Telegraph reported Rice has turned down two new contract offers.
Rice’s current West Ham deal runs until the summer of 2024.
Phillips claims Rice should be the Hammers’ top earner and admitted Manchester United and Chelsea will now be on alert.

“He should be their top earner,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“There’s no way Yarmolenko should be getting more than him.
“He’s a top player who has shown his maturity, his qualities and he’s a brilliant player.
“From West Ham’s point of view, turning down two contracts is encouraging for Chelsea and Man United.
“They will be concerned. If they were to lose him it would be a massive dagger in the heart.
“It will be a huge hole to fill. Will he be a West Ham player at the start of the season? It’s anyone’s guess.
“I personally think he will look to move on this summer. If Man United or Chelsea come knocking, Rice will be very hard to keep.”
Rice is currently impressing at Euro 2020 with England and helped his country beat Germany in the round of 16.
He has become a talisman for West Ham and played every minute of their recent Premier League campaign aside from a six-game spell he missed through injury.
