Phillips shares exciting Sunderland transfer prediction after talking to Louis-Dreyfus on Friday
Sunderland no longer need to or will sell their top talents like Dan Neil.
That is the view of Stadium of Light legend Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after his conversation with Kyril Louis-Dreyfus at the Foundation of Light’s 20th birthday Gala Awards Dinner on Friday.
The Black Cats have sold many of their talented young players over the past few years – most notably Joe Hugill to Manchester United in July of last year.
Dan Neil, 19, has been the breakout star of this season for Sunderland.
The centre-midfielder has contributed two goals and three assists in 13 appearances across all competitions.
Phillips is confident Neil will be at Sunderland for years to come.

“I believe with the new owner, who I chatted to the other night, they won’t sell the likes of Dan Neil,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“Everything is in the right place. The club is moving in the right direction.
“You have to keep players like Dan Neil. Academy players will look to Neil as inspiration for themselves.
“Lee Johnson has shown that he is looking to go down that route. He is going for a young youthful side. You can see that in his signings. The balance looks really good.
“If you are a young player coming through that academy now you are looking to Dan Neil. His progression will give them confidence and that’s vital.”
