Phillips 'wowed' as 'big clubs' tipped to test Leeds resolve with bids

Kevin Phillips insists “real big clubs” will be knocking on the door for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips after the Euros.

The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, was left stunned by an impressive stat registered by the Whites man.

After Wednesday’s clash against Denmark, @LUFCDATA shared stats that show Phillips has covered more ground than any other England player at Euro 2020.

In fact, only Spain’s Pedri and Italy’s Jorginho have covered more ground with the latter due to face Phillips in Sunday’s final.

Phillips has been blown away by the Leeds midfielder’s performance at the Euros and especially his tireless efforts on Wednesday.

“Do you know what, he’s just turning into a top, top player,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“I love watching him play. He’s got everything in his game and Declan Rice partners him so well.

“Unfortunately for Leeds, from their point of view, if he keeps progressing I can see some real big clubs knocking on the door.

“He can play at the very top. You hope that won’t happen after the Euros but there is going to be a lot of people thinking he is class.

“He’s 25, he’s not at his peak but for the next five or six years he’s going to be up there.

“It shows you how fit he is, in extra time the other night he didn’t even look out of breath.

“Rice looked shattered but Phillips, wow, he is a class player.”
