Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg among Tottenham quartet on chopping block after Sky update - pundit
Alan Hutton has suggested at least one Tottenham midfielder could be sold this summer with Brighton star Yves Bissouma reportedly close to joining.
The former Spurs defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old is an “upgrade” on the current options at Antonio Conte’s disposal.
As reported by Sky Sports on Tuesday (14 June), Bissouma will undergo a medical on Thursday to complete a £25million move from Brighton.
The Mali international will join Rodrigo Bentancur, Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Winks in the midfield ranks.
Hutton insisted the current quartet are all “relatively the same” in terms of playing style.
As such, he suggested one could be sold to make room for Bissouma.

“There are only two (midfield places),” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“They’re playing a 3-4-3 so there are only two positions there for all those players. They’re all relatively the same.
“Do I think he’s an upgrade? Yes. I think he’s got the ability to be better than what they have at this moment in time. He’s definitely got all the attributes to be a top, top defensive midfielder. We’ve seen him drive forward as well.
“There’s a lot of competition in there. You’d like to think Conte will have to move people out if he wants to bring another defensive midfielder in.”
Hojbjerg played the most of any Spurs midfielder during the 2021/22 campaign, with 48 appearances under his belt.
January addition Bentancur played in all but two games after joining the club.
