Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could be axed from Tottenham XI after confirmed news - expert
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will fall down the pecking order at Tottenham following the arrival of Yves Bissouma, according to Paul Robinson.
The former Spurs and England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is confident Antonio Conte’s preferred partnership will be Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur.
On Friday (17 June), Spurs announced the arrival of Bissouma from Brighton on a four-year contract.
Tottenham agreed a £25million fee with Brighton for the Mali international, with a further £10million dependant on performance related add-ons.
Conte now has a wealth of midfield options including Bissouma, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Harry Winks, Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr.
When asked by Football Insider if Bissouma will be a regular starter for Spurs next season, Robinson said: “Bissouma will compete with Hojbjerg and Bentancur for those two midfield spots.

“Obviously one of them won’t start. I think Hojbjerg will be the one that sits out.
“In the bigger fixtures I’d expect Bissouma to start alongside Bentancur. They would be the first picked.
“Conte is amassing a squad though. He is going to be given the resources to shape the squad how he wants and rightly so.
“Spurs have a world-class manager. They are in a great position right now. If they fail, it will be because they have not backed the manager. Conte has proved that he is capable.
“Players will get moved on and some might raise an eyebrow. He will bring in quality to replace them though. It’s about having players who fit the system.”
