Piers Morgan slams Arsenal senior duo on Twitter

By Matt Farr

Piers Morgan has slammed Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger for his comments about midfielder N’Golo Kante.

Wenger had admitted ahead of Arsenal’s top-of-the-table Premier League clash with Chelsea that he had tried to sign Kante from Leicester last summer, only for the midfielder to join the Blues in a £32million deal.

He had also tried to sign him from Caen before he arrived in the Premier League, but he once again saw his attempts fail to come to fruition.

However, Morgan was less than impressed with Wenger’s excuses for missing out on Kante, also criticising the man that Arsenal eventually brought in, £35million man Granit Xhaka.

Morgan took to his personal Twitter account ahead of Arsenal’s clash to slam the Switzerland international, saying he was only ‘half as good’ as Kante.

His concerns were perhaps echoed by Kante’s dominant midfield display on Saturday, helping Chelsea record a comfortable 3-1 victory over the Gunners at Stamford Bridge.

The 25-year-0ld has proven to be the catalyst in the last two Premier League title victories, first for Leicester last season, and now he looks likely to lead Chelsea to the feat this term.

Xhaka, on the other hand, has had less of an inspired impact since arriving in England, and Arsenal fans remain divided over his displays.

The Switzerland international missed the Chelsea clash due to suspension, his second ban of the season.

The 24-year-old has made 27 appearances in all competitions this season, contributing three goals and one assist.

Both Xhaka and Wenger have had their moments for Arsenal this season, but Morgan – among many other Arsenal fans – believe there is still a lot left to be desired.
