Sam Allardyce has rubbished rumours linking Wilfried Zaha with a reported summer move to Tottenham.
The Express claimed that Mauricio Pochettino has the 24-year-old on his radar as he looks to find a replacement for Erik Lamela.
The Crystal Palace winger has been in decent form for his side this season despite their Premier League struggles.
Allardyce has been the boss at Selhurst Park since taking over from Alan Pardew in December.
The 62-year-old has now said that there is no substance to the rumours and has blamed agents for instigating the reports.
“Spurs were always mentioned because agents or somebody decided to stir the pot,” said the PL boss, as quoted by BT Sport.
“We all know who stirs the pot behind the scenes even though they deny it but we know they do it.”
Allardyce is a big fan of Zaha and called for referees to protect his player more, comparing him to Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
“He gets kicked as much as Hazard. Keep going Wilf, it’s a compliment to you when people can’t cope with your ability and have to foul you.”
Zaha is currently in his second spell at Palace after spending two years on the books at Manchester United, where he made just four appearances in all competitions.
The Eagles re-signed him for a cut-price fee in February 2015 after spending the first half of the season at Selhurst Park on loan.
He has scored five goals and bagged eight assists in 25 league games this season for the south London club, who sit in 16th place in the Premier League with 28 points.
Although Palace suffered a terrible run in the middle of the season, which ultimately saw Pardew relieved of his job, Zaha still managed to go on an incredible run providing five assists in five consecutive games – all of which the Eagles lost, however.
