Manchester City are set to offer youngster Jadon Sancho an improved contract amid interest from their Premier League rivals, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claim that Man City will give the 16-year-old a new three-year contract and a bumper pay rise.
It is said that the wonderkid is being tipped to be an English superstar and Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea have been interested in him.
The report details that Spurs and their rivals were looking to exploit rumours that Sancho may have been homesick.
However, Pep Guardiola has moved to secure the long-term future of the attacker in a deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2020.
Sancho moved to Man City in 2015 from Watford in a fee that could rise to £500,000.
The English youngster operates mainly on the left wing and is known for his goal scoring traits.
He managed to score twice in the first four minutes of his Under-18s debut this season and has been invited to train with the first-team.
Spurs’ pursuit of Sancho appears to have reached an emphatic ending, but the north London club do have their own set of emerging youngsters.
Marcus Edwards is one name coming out of White Hart Lane and he has featured once in the first-team during the EFL Cup this season.
Football Insider verdict:
Spurs look set to miss out on emerging youngster Sancho, but should not be disheartened as they already have a good crop of academy players at their disposal. Mauricio Pochettino is keen to integrate young players into his squad and they are frequently interested in prospects across all England. Dele Alli is a perfect example that signing these players at a young age can have a huge reward and he is now a regular for both club and county. Spurs need to ensure that they spend big on proven players in the summer, despite being interested in exciting talents is always a good thing. The north London club need big signings if they are to compete at the top-end of the table every season, with all of their rivals expected to invest heavily in the next window.
In other Tottenham transfer news, they have scouted a highly rated 19-year-old attacker.
