With Celtic on the verge of completing a second successive domestic treble, it’s not surprising that some of the Hoops’ mainstays have been linked with moves away from the club.
The latest is midfielder Callum McGregor, who according to The Sun is wanted by Premier League clubs Bournemouth and Watford as they fight over the £10million-rated player.
These clubs are wasting their time, as under no circumstances would the Hoops thinking about selling such an important player in the summer, even for an eight figure sum.
McGregor is an unheralded player to an extent, but he makes the Hoops tick, and has made 52 appearances this season, which is an incredible number of matches, scoring 11 goals in the process.
As the player is under contract until 2021 there is no need for Brendan Rodgers or the Hoops board to even think about selling the player, it’s not like the Tom Rogic or Stuart Armstrong situations, where their contract issues my force the Hoops to consider selling the players in the summer.
There is no doubt that some players, important one at that, could move on from the Hoops in the summer, but it is very unlikely that McGregor will be one of them, and he should be a key man for the Bhoys for another few season a the very least, his performances have earned that right.
