PL giants plotting swoop for England Under-18 international who Everton rate highly – report

By Harvey Byrne

Premier League giants Manchester United are plotting a swoop for young Bolton goalkeeper Jake Turner, according to a report.

The Sun have claimed that the Red Devils see him as a potential number one in the future, but they could also face competition from Everton for his signature with the Toffees said to rate him highly.

It is said that the Old Trafford giants are currently leading the race for the two-time capped England Under-18 international, but the Trotters will take the biggest offer for their rising star.

The English Championship club are looking to raise funds after winning promotion in the last campaign and it is reported by the Sun that United have been recommended to the goalkeeper by some of the FA’s coaching staff.

Turner, who is contracted to Bolton until 2019 has never made a senior first team appearance, but he did make a number of appearances on the bench in the last campaign as backup to former Manchester United stopper Ben Amos.

Football Insider verdict:

Everton have already brought in one good up and coming English goalkeeper this summer in Jordan Pickford and there would certainly be no harm if they were to add another to their ranks. The Toffees have made moves for many players to join their academy in the past year, which includes the likes of Josh Bowler, Boris Mathis and Chris Renshaw. It is clear from these signings that the club are looking to build something for the future and after winning the Premier League 2 last season ahead of the likes of Manchester United it is clear that Everton is currently the club for any young players looking to develop their game.

In other Everton transfer news, the Toffees have been installed clear favourites to sign this 19-goal English forward.
