Plymouth Argyle told ‘sack Wayne Rooney now’ after ‘huge’ exit news
Plymouth Argyle fans have taken to social media to urge the club to sack incumbent manager Wayne Rooney after their 2-1 defeat to Swansea on Tuesday (December 10).
The South Coast club are in the relegation zone and two points off the bottom after goals from Swansea duo Jay Fulton and Liam Cullen, extending their winless streak to five league games.
Mustapha Bundu scored a late consolation for Plymouth with a 79th-minute close-range effort, but it was too little too late for the home side.
Rooney, 39, made six changes from their previous 4-0 defeat to Bristol City, with defender Brendan Galloway returning after two months out with an ankle injury.
According to the Guardian, the Man United legend is under “heightened scrutiny” following his “hugely damaging” run of results at the Championship club.
The report states that despite “no immediate plans to make a change,” the following games against Oxford and Swansea appear “crucial” for Rooney’s future.
Plymouth’s game against Oxford on Saturday (December 7) was postponed due to bad weather caused by Storm Daragh.
