By Derek Smithson
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he has spoken with defender Toby Alderweireld and that he is happy to be with the club.
Spurs boss Pochettino has explained that he spoke with the 28-year-old, who has “no reason to move” away in the near future.
The Argentinian claimed that Alderweireld plans to play for the North London club, as cited by Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold on his personal Twitter account.
Poch had another long chat with Toby Alderweireld this morning. Said he is happy. "His idea is to play here and there is no reason to move."

The centre-back’s future has come under question despite still being under contract until 2020.
Stijn Francis, who advises Alderweireld along with his father Vic, claimed that Spurs should sell the Belgium international if they are not willing to give him the contract he deserves, as cited by the Sun.

Francis stated that eight top clubs are keen on signing Spurs’ defender and it has been widely reported that player and club have reached a stalemate over a new deal.
Alderweireld is believed to want a huge upgrade on his current £50,000-a-week contact and ESPN have reported that Manchester City are lining up a move for the defender as uncertainty over his future continues.
The Belgian is regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and has become an ever-present in the Spurs side since his arrival in 2015.
He has racked up 91 appearances in that time and formed a brilliant partnership alongside compatriot Jan Vertonghen.
