Tottenham have identified Porto defender Ricardo Pereira as their top target to replace Kyle Walker, according to a report.
The Telegraph claim that Spurs are keen on signing the 23-year-old and see him as a natural replacement for Walker, who is expected to join Manchester City.
It is understood Mauricio Pochettino has picked out Pereira as his first choice to fill the vacant right-back position and Portuguese giants Porto value him at £20million.
The report details that the north London club will face tough competition for his signature as European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also interested.
Pereira has spent the last two seasons out on loan at French club Nice and helped them to a third-placed finish in Ligue 1 last year.
The Portugal international made 30 appearances across all competitions and showed his versatility throughout the campaign.
He is a right-back by trade, but can also be used as a right winger or in the opposite full-back position.
Football Insider verdict:
Spurs will need a new full-back to keep the balance of the squad and a move for Pereira could be a smart move. The right-back impressed during his time with Nice and does have experience in European competitions. The 23-year-old is developing into a solid player and a move to the Premier League could be a positive step in his career. He has shown his qualities in going forward and that is something that would lend itself well to playing for Spurs. Pereira would face tough competition with Kieran Trippier for a spot in the starting line-up, but he would be able to help fill the void left by Walker.
