Pochettino issues rallying cry to Tottenham players ahead of Hull clash

By Amir Mir

Mauricio Pochettino has stated that Tottenham need to keep their “faith and belief” in their fight for the top four when they take on Hull on Wednesday night.

Spurs were beaten 1-0 during their last league fixture when Manchester United inflicted a second defeat in three league games at Old Trafford.

Now relegation strugglers Hull City travel to White Hart Lane for a tough away fixture, looking to cause an upset.

Pochettino’s side have suffered two league defeats on the road this term, but they are yet to be beaten on home soil.

Meanwhile, Mike Phelan’s Tigers are sitting in the relegation zone, with no win on the road since their 2-0 victory at Swansea in August.

Ahead of the midweek fixture, Pochettino was in fighting talk as he issued this message to his players.

“The next game is key for us to keep our faith and the belief to fight for the top four and that’s why the three points is important tomorrow,” Pochettino told Spurs TV.

Spurs are fifth in the league table on 27 points from 15 games, three behind Manchester City in fourth and three ahead of United in sixth.

If the north London club pick up three points against Hull and Pep Guardiola’s side lose at home to Watford, then Pochettino’s men will leapfrog them in the table.

They will be hoping their star striker Harry Kane, who has scored five goals in his last five games, will be on top form.

By contrast a win for the away side could see them move out of the bottom three, if other results go their way.
