Mauricio Pochettino has revealed in the Mail that he sends Harry Kane a constant stream of WhatsApp messages to keep him on his toes.
The Tottenham manager explained the lengths he goes to get the best out of the team’s star striker and maintain his position as one of the world’s elite players.
Under Pochettino’s guidance, Kane has progressed in three years from a frustrated figure on the fringes of an underachieving Spurs side into the talisman of a vibrant team that has won admirers from all over the globe.
The Tottenham academy product, 24, has developed into one of the outstanding forwards in the world after securing consecutive Premier League golden boots and then taking his game to an even higher level this season with 11 club goals from 10 matches to take his overall Spurs tally to 110 from 175 appearances.
Pochettino is convinced that a key element to the 24-year-old’s exalted status is his attitude and willingness to absorb the information given to him by the coaches at White Hart Lane.

In a new book, Brave New World: Inside Pochettino’s Spurs, as serialised by the Mail, the Spurs manager gave some fascinating insight into Kane.
“He is as enthusiastic as ever: he enjoys training, he prolongs his sessions and he studies elite players, past and present.
“I WhatsApp him videos of goals or interesting pieces of play by other strikers. At all hours. The last one I sent was at 11pm.
“Kane is a warrior now. He already was, but he didn’t know he had it in him. I’m not speaking about qualities or traits, but that essential mental strength to be able to stay in the elite. I believe he is the best player in the world in terms of mental strength, willpower and endeavour.
“He is completely focused on his football. He has a house in Essex but spends the week at another one he owns closer to the training ground. He’s the first to arrive and the last to leave.
“He likes to join in when someone with different experiences in football visits. He enjoys sitting down with us, soaking it all up and participating in the discussions. At those times it is as though for him nothing else in the world exists.”
