Pochettino sends message to Tottenham fans regarding the club’s summer business
By Harvey Byrne
Manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Tottenham fans not to be worried and that the club will make moves in the transfer market this summer.
The north London club have not brought in a single player over the current window to date with former star Kyle Walker also leaving in a mega-money deal to Manchester City.
This has caused some concern around the Spurs fan base with many keen to see the club add to their already impressive line-up and try and push on from last season’s second placed finish.
But, Pochettino has now assured supporters that the club intends to conduct some transfer business this summer and that Tottenham will continue to be ambitious despite the rumours.
“I want to speak to our fans. Don’t be worried. Because today there are a lot of rumours and stuff about the clubs spending big money and it looks like Tottenham are not ambitious,” told Pochettino, as quoted by Football.London.
“That is not real. We will move in the market for sure and will be competitive like the last two seasons. ”
By July 13 last year Tottenham had brought in just two players with Victor Wanyama joining from Southamtpon in June, while forward Vincent Janssen joined from AZ Alkmaar on July 12.
But, the club may be more restrained in splashing the cash this summer after spending a combined £47million on attacking flops Moussa Sissoko and Janssen last year.
Additionally, with the huge inflation in transfer fees this summer Spurs may be reluctant to enter the market until those prices have severely dropped as clubs look to sell towards the end of the window.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Antonio Conte is a big fan of this Spurs star who is not Harry Kane.
