Pogba’s fate hinges on the new Man United manager after source’s reveal – pundit

Danny Mills has suggested Man United may decide to keep Paul Pogba in the January window if a potential new manager wants him.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England defender claimed “tentative talks” with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s successor could see Man United make a U-turn on Pogba.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (November 19) the midfielder is one of five first-team stars United are willing to offload in January.

It is understood Dean Henderson, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones and Danny van de Beek could also depart in the January window.

Pogba is out of contract at the end of the season so the winter window is the last opportunity Man United have to recoup any of the £89million fee they paid for him.

Asked for his verdict on United’s Pogba decision, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It all depends on what they’re thinking come the end of the season, in terms of the next manager.

“Will he be part of their plans? Do they want him around going forward?

“There are two conversations around it. Do they know who the next manager is going to be? Do they want to keep Paul Pogba around? Or, do they move him on and when you bear in mind he won’t be fit until January then you might as well cash in now.

“If you want to keep him, keep him but if he’s not part of your plans and Ole is not going to use him between now and the end of the season, you might as well get rid.

“If a new manager doesn’t fancy him then get rid. If there has been tentative talks with the potential new manager and he says ‘I want Pogba’ then you keep him arund until the end of the season.”
