Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno – and the club’s supporters on Twitter have raised their concerns about the possibility of signing him.

German publication Bild reports that the Reds are lining up the  shot-stopper this summer, while Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Napoli have also been credited with interest.

It is understood that he is valued at around £22million and that he is set to lose his number one position next season with German top-flight club Leverkusen.

The Merseyside club are on the search for a new man in-between the sticks after Loris Karius’ misfortune in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, while Simon Mignolet also appears to have blown several opportunities during his time at Anfield.

Leno is a 6ft 2in (source: Transfermarkt) goalkeeper that was a mainstay in the Leverkusen starting XI this season, keeping 12 clean sheets in 38 appearances across all competitions.

The Germany international has a wealth of experience in both the Bundesliga and Champions League despite being aged just 26, but he is just the latest name to be linked with a switch to Anfield already this summer.

Jurgen Klopp will need to find a reliable number one if he is to win trophies with Liverpool and their hunt for silverware under the manager continues for now.

Liverpool fans on social media are not convinced that Leno is the right candidate to improve the current group and have doubts over whether he can take the club to the next step.
