Pontus Jansson makes this plea to Leeds fans after victory against Sheffield Wednesday

By Amir Mir

Pontus Jansson has urged the Leeds supporters to sell out Elland Road for the rest of the season after their 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.

Over 35,000 fans witnessed the Yorkshire duo clash horns in a mouth-watering Championship encounter as it was the home team that sealed the valuable three points.

After a quiet start to the game, it was striker Chris Wood who pounced on a mistake from the Wednesday defence to open the scoring after 24 minutes.

The Whites remained fairly comfortably after that but the away team could have leveled the scored after the break when Jordan Rhodes had his penalty saved by Rob Green.

After the win for Leeds, Jansson sent this message to the supporters as posted on his personal Twitter account.

“Fantastic team performance from us today,” said Jansson. “Thanks for your support and please get Elland Road sold out for the rest of the season.”

Garry Monk has built a solid foundation on home soil this season as his team have only lost two Championship games in Yorkshire.

Automatic hopefuls Newcastle and Neil Warnock’s Cardiff are the only side’s to have picked up all three points.

Nonetheless, victories against the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa, Derby, and Reading have been examples of the strength they have had at home.

Their next Championship game will be an away trip to St Andrews where they will take on struggling Birmingham City on March 3.
