Leeds defender Pontus Jansson revealed his excitement on Twitter ahead of the club’s league game against Cardiff on Saturday as over 30,000 tickets have been sold.

The Whites confirmed on their official website that they have had to open up the East Stand Upper and South East Corner after over 30,000 tickets have been sold.

It is understood that the crowd is expected to be over 33,000 and shows the incredible support surrounding the club’s promotion pursuit this season.

The Yorkshire club are currently fifth in the Championship table and will be looking to strengthen their grip on their play-off position on Saturday.

Jansson is looking forward to playing in front of a large crowd in the Cardiff clash.

“Over 30,000 tickets sold on Saturday, love it! See you there,” Jansson wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Leeds will be looking to respond to the narrow 2-1 defeat against Huddersfield in their last match, when Michael Hefele scored an 89th minute winner for the hosts.

Garry Monk’s side still have a seven-point cushion above those sides chasing the play-offs and are expected to be in the promotion mix come the end of the season.

Jansson is likely to start for the match against Cardiff and fans are delighted that he completed a permanent switch to Elland Road in the summer.

The 25-year-old has made 24 appearances this season across all competitions and become a huge fan favourite, with the centre-back also chipping in with three goals.

Leeds recorded a comfortable 2-0 away win in their previous meeting against Cardiff this season and will be hoping for a similar performance.

In other Leeds news, Monk has responded when asked about the club’s fringe player.
