Sources: Portsmouth in advanced talks to sign Coventry City star Walker
Portsmouth are in advanced talks to sign Coventry City striker Tyler Walker, Football Insider understands.
Pompey boss Danny Cowley has been looking to bring a new striker this month and he is close to landing the 25-year-old.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Portsmouth have agreed a loan deal until of the season with Coventry for Walker.
The former Nottingham Forest goalscorer signed for the Sky Blues in August 2020 and is under contract until 2023.
He registered eight goals and three assists across 33 outings in his first campaign with the club.
Walker‘s 19 appearances this term have yielded three goals, but just four of those appearances have been starts in the league.

He has competition from Matty Godden and Viktor Gyokeres, who have scored 19 goals between them this term, for the centre-forward role.
Fellow hitman Martyn Waghorn, who signed from Derby County last summer (2021), is also due back from injury soon.
Right-winger Marcus Harness is Portsmouth’s top scorer in 2021-22 with 10 strikes from 26 appearances.
The South Coast side are currently 9th in League One, six points off the pace in the race for the play-offs.
Their only signing of the winter window so far is 22-year-old centre-half Hayden Carter, who joined from Blackburn Rovers on a six-month loan.
This site revealed last Wednesday (12 January) that Pompey are also chasing Chelsea midfielder Tariq Uwakwe.
The 22-year-old midfielder is in the final six months of his contract and the Blues are ready to let him go this month with a sell-on clause included.
