Postecoglou will be ‘disciplining’ Celtic stars over issue ‘doing his nut in’ – McLeish

Alex McLeish has insisted Ange Postecoglou will be “disciplining” his Celtic stars in how to defend from set-pieces after the 2-1 win over Ross County.

The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Hoops boss will be working his players hard on the training ground to solve their problems at the back.

Jack Baldwin’s goal for Ross County was the fifth Celtic have conceded directly from set-pieces in the league this season (WhoScored).

It means goals from corners and free-kicks make up 45 per cent of the 11 the Bhoys have had scored against them.

McLeish insisted it would be “doing Postecoglou’s nut in”.

McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “When you get a bunch of new guys and you try to nail them down to the discipline of a set-piece situation, do you go man-for-man, do you do a line?

“I think, at the moment, they’re not quite 100 per cent in perfecting it the way they should be doing it.

“When you see so many set pieces going against them, that is obviously something that will be doing the manager’s nut in.

“He will have the analysts on it and I’m certain he’ll have them on the training ground.

“Without having a massive squad and certain players, he’ll be disciplining them in the way that they should be defending these set-pieces.”

Of the other six goals conceded in the league, five have come from open play and one from a penalty.

The Bhoys have the best defensive record in the Premiership, having conceded three fewer goals than Rangers.
