It seems that Celtic could be set to swoop for the in-demand Scotland international John McGinn.
The Scottish Sun claims that the 23-year-old is on a shortlist of potential new signings for Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers.
The player has also been linked with Sunderland recently, but it does feel like movement is set to be made on a long-rumoured deal.
If a deal for McGinn is completed, it could have a massive effect on the Hoops midfield.
That area of the squad is already packed with players, and adding a signing like McGinn, who will be set to cost at least £2million, makes it seem inevitable that some players will be moving on, either on loan or on a permanent deal.
Eboue Kouassi would seem a prime candidate for a player to leave on loan, as the £3million signing from Krasnodar rarely featured for the Hoops after a poor performance against Zenit in the Europe League.
Stuart Armstrong’s future could also be affected by the potential signing of McGinn, as he could well see the Hibernian midfielder as his replacement in the squad.
With Armstrong only having a year left on his contract it wouldn’t be a shock if McGinn’s arrival meant both Kouassi and Armstrong, at least, leaving the Hoops.
Of course, all this is just rumour at the moment, but if the McGinn deal gets done then it could be all change in the Hoops midfield in the summer.
