A Celtic-Marseille friendly clash is a game that really whets the appetite.
Two financial sets of fans, and two great managers in Brendan Rodgers and Rudi Garcia pitting their wits against each other.
The good news is that the teams are set to play each other in July.
The bad news is that the game is likely to be a damp squib.
The teams are set to face off in a four team tournament in the unlikely settings of non-league team South Shields FC, in a tournament which also involves the host club and Premier League side Southampton.
The tournament was announced on the official South Shields website.
Unfortunately, the date of the game, July 27th, is right in the middle of the Hoops’ hectic Champions League qualification campaign.
The Bhoys will understandably be giving priority to those matches which will define the season, and it is no shock that the tournament website announced that the Hoops were going to send an under-23 side to the game.
There could be some decent players featuring though, the likes of Anthony Ralston, Michael Johnston, Dorus de Vrires and Cristian Gamboa might get game time.
In the bigger picture, it will be interesting to see if the Hoops arrange some glamour friendlies to fine tune the squad during the qualifiers, it would perhaps be a good idea to do so.
In other Celtic news, a change in a tournament format is good news for the Bhoys
