Nick Powell is closing in on a deadline day loan move to Hull after a breakthrough in talks with Manchester United, Football Insider sources understand.
The two clubs have been locked in negotiations in the past 48 hours to iron out the terms of the transfer, which has been held up by disagreements over the agents’ cut of the loan fee.
All parties are now confident that a deal can be completed before the 11pm deadline on Monday.
As revealed by Football Insider, Powell has been on standby to undergo a medical and finalise terms at the Championship club’s training headquarters.

Powell was in the stands at Gigg Lane on Saturday to watch Hull beat Bury 3-1 in the FA Cup fourth round.
Manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that the promotion chasers have been trying to sign the 21-year-old playmaker on loan until the end of the season.
Speaking on Saturday, Bruce said: “There’s still some work to be done but hopefully we can get it over the line. I wouldn’t be bringing him in if I didn’t think he could enhance us.
“Last season we had four or five players go down with long-term injuries so we’ve got to guard against that.”

If a deal can be agreed, there is a possibility that Powell, who is out of contract in the summer, has played his last game for United.
The 21-year-old has had scarce first-team involvement at Old Trafford after making little progress during his three-and-a-half years at the club.
He has made only nine first-team appearances and just two this season, which bizarrely came when he was thrust on as a substitute for Juan Mata when Louis van Gaal’s team were chasing late goals against Wolfsburg and Bournemouth in December.
