Premier League clubs plotting shock transfer for ‘incredible’ Arsenal star ahead of January
Arsenal’s incredible squad depth could see multiple players leave North London in January, including one academy graduate.
Arsenal are on a quest to win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City, who closed the gap to just four points following their 3-0 win over Liverpool.
The Gunners conceded for the first time since September 28 during a 2-2 draw with Sunderland, thanks to Brian Brobbey’s last-gasp equaliser.
But that late blow won’t impact the confidence of Mikel Arteta’s men, after conceding just five goals in their opening 11 league matches.
Arteta’s defensive partnership of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba have played a crucial role in obtaining that record, along with full-backs Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori.

Myles Lewis-Skelly could leave Arsenal in January
Naturally, with the embarrassment of riches at the Spaniard’s disposal, some players haven’t played as much as they would have liked, and one of those is Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The 19-year-old burst onto the scene in 2024/25 and impressed as a dynamic left-back, making 39 appearances across all competitions.
But in 2025/26, Arteta has preferred Calafiori over Lewis-Skelly, arguably due to his defensive strength and aerial prowess from set-pieces.
That is why the youngster is yet to start in the Premier League this term, although he has made an impact across other competitions, most notably in the Champions League.
Gael Clichy was wowed by Lewis-Skelly’s assist during the 4-0 thumping of Atletico Madrid, as he proved why he’s better than Calafiori going forward.
However, after missing out on Tuchel’s latest England squad, Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has revealed that he could leave in January, with multiple Premier League clubs ‘monitoring’ his situation.

“My understanding is that Thomas Tuchel has told him he needs to play more football if he’s going to be a candidate for that World Cup squad next summer, and at the moment, he isn’t playing enough for Arsenal,” Dorsett said. “We know there are a number of Premier League clubs monitoring his situation.”
Why Arsenal could be reluctant to loan out Lewis-Skelly
There are no surprises that several top-flight clubs are interested in loaning Lewis-Skelly, seeing him as an improvement on their current options.
A temporary switch out of the Emirates could also appeal to the teenager, as it would boost his chances of being selected for the World Cup.

But there’s a key reason why Arsenal could decline the chance to loan him out, and that is due to their worrying injury record.
Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League were famously ruined by injuries in 2023/24, and so far, they’ve had to play matches without Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and even Viktor Gyokeres.
So, whilst the ‘incredible’ Lewis-Skelly remains a backup option, they’d surely only consider loaning him out if they signed a left-back in January.
