Premier League giants Manchester United are preparing an offer for Celtic sensation Kieran Tierney, according to a report.
The Mirror have claimed that the English giants have done “extensive homework” on the Hoops’ 19-year-old and that they have been impressed by the teenager’s disciplined lifestyle and dedication to his career.
The report follows on from Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho publicly questioning the commitment level of current left-back Luke Shaw.
Now, the Mirror states that Mourinho sees the £10million-rated Tierney as the long-term left-back for England’s most prestigious club, with Shaw set to leave in the summer.
The Manchester club splashed out a mega £30million to bring in Shaw from Southampton in 2014, making him the most expensive teenager in world football.
There is no mention of what the United hierarchy would have to shell out on to seal Tierney’s signature, but it is believed they may have to go higher than the £10million valuation in order to convince Celtic to sell him.
It is also stated that Tierney, who has played 32 times for the Hoops, providing 12 goals and scoring one himself in all competitions this season is keen on a transfer to United.
Fellow star Moussa Dembele has also been attracting the Premier League with Chelsea reportedly interested, but Tierney, who still has four years left on his contract at the club could be the one to leave.
Football Insider verdict:
Tierney is a must keep player for Celtic, but it is no secret that English clubs can offer players far more money and a better standard of football. At 19 Tierney has a very bright future in the game and has already been capped three times by Scotland. He certainly looks to have a bright career, as Shaw once did before his move to Manchester United. If Tierney’s dedication to his career is correct then he may look at players like Shaw and various others in the past and believe that moving to such a ruthless club at this stage of the career may not be a best option and playing regularly for a team like Celtic in Europe could be the best for his future.
