Premier League make official announcement about Wolves vs Manchester United controversy
Manchester United extended their recent unbeaten run to three games with a 4-1 win away at Wolves on Monday night.
The Red Devils produced an assured performance to dispatch the Premier League’s bottom club at Molineux, leaving Rob Edwards’ side still chasing their first win of the league campaign.
Bruno Fernandes netted a brace for United, either side of goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount, as they secured a comfortable victory that lifted them up to sixth in the table.
Ruben Amorim’s team took control of the contest in the second half, and they were aided by a controversial decision that helped to put the result beyond doubt in the latter stages.

Premier League release statement on Man United penalty
Andrew Kitchen took charge of Manchester United’s win over West Ham in their last domestic outing, and the referee’s performance has come under plenty of scrutiny in recent days.
He has been heavily criticised for some of the decisions that he made during that 1-1 draw, and the man in the middle was in the spotlight again during Monday’s game.
Michael Salisbury waved away penalty appeals from United when Amad Diallo’s shot struck the arm of Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera inside the box, only for him to then be asked to consult the pitchside monitor, resulting in him overturning his decision.
Mosquera was shown a yellow card for the handball, and Fernandes slotted home the penalty to extend his side’s lead to three goals.
The Premier League have now released a statement on the incident via their Match Centre account on X, in which they branded Mosquera’s intervention as a “deliberate handball in the penalty area.”
Ruben Amorim’s side have clear motivation vs Bournemouth
Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth side are next on the agenda for Amorim and Co. after their latest victory, and United will be desperate to get another win under their belts.
Their opponents next Monday night are currently enduring a run of six consecutive league games without a win, and that spell has seen them slip into the bottom half of the table.
By contrast, United should have even more motivation than normal to get three points at Old Trafford, as a victory could take them into the European places.
The Red Devils are currently level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea, and one point behind Crystal Palace in fourth.
Should either of those teams slip up next weekend, United will surely be ready to pounce and climb even higher in the table.
