‘Premier League to end West Ham season’ – Fans erupt at Lucas Paqueta update

West Ham fans have called for the Premier League to end their season as Lucas Paqueta news emerges from the London Stadium.

The Brazilian has been a vital cog in the Hammers’ wheel ever since arriving from Lyon in the summer of 2022 in a £51million deal, even if his performances have dropped at certain points this season.

Paqueta has experienced a resurgence under Graham Potter at West Ham, getting back amongst the goals against Aston Villa and Fulham, as well as playing out of position.

It has been an extremely difficult season for the Hammers so far, with the team languishing in 16th in the Premier League, just 10 points above the relegation zone, but he has adopted a leadership role recently.

However, Potter may have to deal without one of his most experienced players for a while as a new crushing injury blow emerges for the Irons.

Lucas Paqueta ‘devastated’ during West Ham training

According to The Standard [18 February], the 28-year-old suffered a new ankle injury during Monday’s training, appearing “devastated” as he withdrew from the session at Rush Green.

It is unclear exactly how serious the setback is for the Brazilian playmaker, with medical staff still assessing the star, but Carlos Soler is expected to fill in for him instead.

West Ham
Julen Lopetegui had a nightmare rain in charge of West Ham this term.

Paqueta has featured in 23 of the Hammers’ league matches so far this season, and with title-chasers Arsenal up next, the injury could not have come at a worse time for Potter.

West Ham signing Evan Ferguson on loan just before the window closed should certainly soften the blow, but there are few players at the club who can provide a similar service on the pitch.

West Ham fans in total meltdown after injury blow

The news has caused a lot of panic in East London, and unless West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen is constantly firing on all cylinders, others in the squad will need to step up.

One supporter has gone as far as to plead with the Premier League to “just end the season now” while another has labelled the campaign a “complete disaster”.

It could get even worse for the Londoners if further negative updates emerge on their star player, and that fear already looks to be setting in.
