Three Premier League clubs sent scouts to watch Aston Villa youngster Callum O’Hare on Monday night, according to a report.
The Birmingham Mail reported that scouts from Arsenal, Everton and Southampton all went to watch the 19-year-old midfielder in action for Villa’s Under-23 side.
And they will have been impressed with what they saw – the highly-rated teenager scored an impressive hat-trick as Kevin MacDonald’s side thrashed Newcastle 6-0.
O’Hara has already made five first-team appearances for Villa this season.
He was handed his first-team debut by Steve Bruce for the 2-1 EFL Cup against Colchester, where he played the full 90 minutes.
He also started the following two cup matches against Wigan and Middlesbrough, and has made two substitute appearances in the Championship defeats to Cardiff and Wolves.
He was rewarded with a new two-year contract with the West Midlands side, which he signed earlier this month.
The three Premier League clubs have all been regulars at Villa’s Under-23 matches this season.
Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday were also present, as were League One sides Blackburn Rovers and Northampton Town.
O’Hare has been with the Championship club since the age of seven and signed his first professional contract in December 2015.
Villa’s first-team are currently in sixth place in the Championship table and take on Preston North End on Wednesday evening.
Football Insider verdict:
You can’t do much more than score a hat-trick when elite scouts are in the stadium watching you and the reports the Premier League clubs will receive will make for interesting reading. Steve Bruce might have more time in the first team earmarked for the youngster, but if not then a loan move would be perfect in January.
