Preston North End work on deal to sign Middlesbrough’s Josh Coburn – sources

Preston North End are working on a deal to sign Middlesbrough striker Josh Coburn before the cut-off, sources have told Football Insider.

Coburn is down the pecking order following the recent arrival of Tommy Conway and a number of clubs are monitoring his situation at the Riverside.

New Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom is keen to bolster his side’s attacking options before the close of the transfer window and he is a big admirer of the 21-year-old striker.

The young striker led the line for Michael Carrick’s side in their heavy 5-0 League Cup defeat to Championship rivals Stoke City on Tuesday (August 27).
