Reported Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal target Malcom has revealed that he wanted to leave the French outfit Bordeaux in January.
Speaking to Telefoot, the Brazilian winger stated that the Premier League interest turned his head, and the 20-year-old favoured a move away from France,
“I wanted to leave, I tell the truth, it’s my dream to progress in my career.
“I spoke with the president [Stephane Martin], he told me that he knew it was my dream, but that he needed me.”
Bordeaux currently sit eighth in the French top division, and Malcom has revealed that the clubs ambition of a top six finish inspired him to stay to hone his craft at least until the end of the season,
“I told him he could count on me until the end [of the season]. I will do everything to bring Bordeaux to the top six in Ligue 1,
“I know I can do better, I will try to do everything because I like Bordeaux.”
The Brazilian’s form has dropped of late, as he has only scored one goal since the start of December.
Malcom’s next chance to prove he is worthy of a Premier League transfer is against 17th placed Amiens, and with new manager Gustavo Poyet at the helm the Bordeaux will want to make an imediate impact.
Mauricio Pochettino has a talent for nourishing young players, so the 20-year-old will be a top Summer target for the Argentine.
