Celtic board ‘can’t ignore’ Hearts title charge

No team outside of Celtic or Rangers have won the title in Scotland since Aberdeen in 1985, with the Hoops winning nine of the past 10.

Celtic may have become complacent with such little opposition over the past decade, and Tom English on X, [27 October], believes greater competition may force the board to act amid fan protests.

English said: “The rise of Hearts is good news for all of those Celtic fans who want meaningful change at their club.

Protests are worthy but is the Celtic board listening? One thing that will spook the hierarchy is the thought of Hearts as proper contenders.

They can’t ignore that.

Brendan Rodgers needs support in January

The main indicator on whether the Celtic board have listened to supporters will be the January transfer window.

Rodgers is in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, with a lack of squad depth hindering his side at Tynecastle.

Sebastian Tounekti currently looks like the only player capable of creating chances and causing opposition defence problems.

A striker will be needed if Kelechi Iheanacho’s injury keeps the Nigerian on the sidelines for a long spell, whilst a return to form for Daizen Maeda would be most welcomed.
