Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk have been left in a difficult position as he is yet to receive a single offer despite handing in his transfer request, according to a recent report.
The Daily Echo has revealed that the Saints haven’t received any bids for the 26-year-old despite links with a number of Premier League clubs.
The regional newspaper claims that Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City were all interested in the centre-back but none of the clubs have made an approach since the Dutchman handed in his request to leave the club.
Van Dijk and Liverpool have had a turbulent time in the transfer window after the defender’s club complained about the Reds approach for the star, but it seems that fans may be left worried about bolstering their defence with the Dutchman as no progress has been made in several days.
It is understood that Southampton are still refusing to sell up which puts the defender in a difficult position as he has made it clear that he no longer wants to play for the Saints, yet doesn’t have a club to move to.

Football Insider verdict
Van Dijk will undoubtedly be feeling frustrated and a little embarrassed after failing to receive any offers after his transfer request was given to Southampton. The centre-back would’ve probably been expecting a quick swoop from Liverpool after the club took part in a somewhat hectic pursuit of the defender earlier on in the transfer window. Adding the Dutchman to Klopp’s squad would be incredibly favoured by fans which would create a great atmosphere at Anfield. The Saints player clearly said in his statement that he wanted a new challenge and that he was eager to fulfill his potential, therefore a move to the Merseyside club could bring out the best in Van Dijk.
