PSG want to sign Salah after source's Liverpool talks reveal - pundit

Paris Saint-Germain will have a keen eye on Mohamed Salah’s contract situation at Liverpool.

That is the view of former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 29-year-old’s future at Anfield.

This site revealed (11 December) that the Reds are increasingly hopeful of agreeing new terms with Salah, despite his £500,000-a-week wage demands.

A Liverpool source told Football Insider negotiations are “tricky” and at a “delicate stage” but there is hope a compromise can be reached.

The Egypt captain has just 18 months left on his current deal.

When asked by Football Insider who potential suitors for Salah could be, Robinson said: “I don’t see PSG as a good move for Salah.

“At Liverpool he is challenging for the Premier League and challenging for the Champions League. I don’t know if PSG is a big enough challenge for him.

“Yes, the money will be fantastic but I don’t think it’s a good move at this stage of his career. He fits in so well at Liverpool. He is more than happy where he is.

“I cannot see any value in letting him go. Not because of what they would have to spend to replace him.

“PSG are one of the biggest superpowers in football. They are very wealthy and if a player like Salah becomes available you expect them to be interested. They are one of few clubs that can afford him so they’ll have an eye on it.”

PSG could lose star forward Kylian Mbappe next summer.

The France international contract is expiring at the end of the season amid interest from Real Madrid.
