‘Puma reveal what they really think of Man City 115 charges’ after record-breaking deal agreed
Manchester City have received a vote of confidence in their 115 charges case against the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola’s side are still awaiting the punishment for their alleged breaches of financial rules, after they were charged in February 2023.
The Manchester club are accused of breaking regulations over a nine-year period, and concealing third-party payments by disguising them as sponsorship revenue.
Earlier this month (15 July), it was announced that City have extended their partnership with Puma for another 10 years, with the contract worth a record-breaking £1billion in total.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the new sponsorship deal is a major boost to City’s chances of winning their case against the Premier League.

‘Man City’s 115 charges will come to nothing’
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Puma must believe the 115 charges are going to come to nothing, otherwise they wouldn’t have extended their contract with City.
The new deal will see the Manchester club earning £100m per year, which is a major increase on the £65m per year fee they previously received.
Wyness added that it is “fascinating” to see Puma put so much faith in City winning their case.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I found it a fascinating deal for lots of reasons. It means that Puma believe the 115 charges may well come to nothing. So that’s an interesting point of view to take.
“No one knows where that’s going to go yet, but still, there’s a vote of confidence in City to a degree. You can read into that what you want to, but I do find it fascinating.”

Man City defender attracting interest
Meanwhile, Man City defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey is attracting interest from SPL and Championship clubs for a season-long loan, Football Insider understands.
Simpson-Pusey is a product of the City youth system and made his senior debut in an EFL Cup tie against Tottenham in October 2024.
The teenager has gone on to make six appearances for Guardiola’s side so far, including 95 minutes across two Premier League outings, while he also won the PL2 Player of the Season award for 2024/25.
Simpson-Pusey has three caps to his name for England’s U18 side, while he’s also been called up to numerous U20 squads, but is yet to make his debut at that level.
