Pundit 'amazed' by Ramsey after 'brilliant' Aston Villa reveal

Aston Villa youngster Jacob Ramsey has “all the attributes to succeed in the Premier League”, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 20-year-old is an “amazing talent”.

Ramsey scored his first Villa Park goal and grabbed an assist on Saturday (15 January) as Aston Villa came back to draw 2-2 against Man United.

Speaking to the Premier League’s YouTube channel on Saturday, the youngster insisted he wants to add “more goals and assists” this term, as well as break into Gareth Southgate’s England side.

Whelan insisted Ramsey is just the latest starlet to come off the “very good” production line at Aston Villa.

“He’s been absolutely brilliant,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“For a young player to come in and dominate that midfield like he does, it’s great to watch.

“He’s got strength, power, skill, speed, an eye for a pass, the quality when finishing – and he’s full of confidence.

“He doesn’t look like a young player who is just coming into a very established Aston Villa side at all.

“At times, he’s the one taking the game by the scruff of the neck. He wants to get on the ball in tight areas and make things happen.

“He’s an amazing talent. We know that Villa have got a very good academy system with a pathway in place – and Ramsey has been a real standout. He’s got every attribute to succeed in the Premier League.”

Ramsey has netted three goals and assisted once across 19 games for Aston Villa this term.

The youngster has missed just one game since Steven Gerrard’s appointment in November.
