Pundit backs Aston Villa to seal 'next level' signings after mega-money Grealish report
Aston Villa could go to the “next level” by selling Jack Grealish this summer, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested a blockbuster transfer would help Dean Smith strengthen other areas.
The Daily Mail claim Manchester City are preparing a deal worth £100million-plus after making Grealish their top midfield target.
It is said Pep Guardiola’s men could explore the option of a player-plus-cash deal to tempt Villa into selling up.
Villa will reportedly demand a new British transfer record for the attacking midfielder.
Whelan insisted the Midlands outfit would find it hard to rebuff a £100million offer.

“I don’t think Aston Villa could turn that down that kind of money,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“The players they could buy, along with what they’ve already got, such as Ollie Watkins, who was a fantastic signing. Covid has hit everybody as well.
“Can you replace Jack Grealish? No, because he’s a one-off kind of player and a player where not many people can do what he does. But you can get near Jack Grealish.
“It’s not going to be the same outcome and the same end product that you’re going to get from that player. That’s why he’s going for over £100million.
“Just imagine what you could add to your squad to make you very competitive and take you to that next level for Aston Villa.
“Jack Grealish would go with a heavy heart but he would go knowing he’s left the club in a massively good place financially.
“I think if somebody came in for £100million it would be a tough one to turn down for Villa, considering what they could do with the money and how good it would leave them financially.
Manchester United’s £89million spend on Paul Pogba is currently the British transfer record.
Grealish scored six goals and contributed 12 assists in 26 Premier League appearances during the 2020/21 campaign.
