Agbonlahor wowed by 'amazing' Harrison after official Leeds Twitter reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Jack Harrison to earn an England call-up after his “outstanding” season for Leeds United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward suggested the winger will not make this summer’s European Championships squad.

Harrison scored his eighth Premier League goal of the season against Burnley at the weekend and he also has eight assists under his belt.

It led to the Leeds United Twitter account to suggest he is deserving of an England call-up as no other English midfielder has more goal involvements in this season’s Premier League.

Asked whether he thinks the 24-year-old deserves a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad next season, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think he does.

“He’s been amazing. I really like him, he’s hard-working, he’s got pace, he can dribble with both feet. He’s a very, very good player.

“If he can just keep this consistency up at the beginning of next season then there’s no reason why he can’t make the England squad because he’s got everything.

“Eight goals and eight assists from a winger is outstanding. That’s no easy feat. It’s very hard to get that number of goals when you’re playing as a winger.

“He’s not a winger like [Mohamed] Salah and [Sadio] Mane. He’s an old fashioned winger where you have to stay wide and take players on. They’re not just running into the box like those two.

“It’s great numbers and something to be proud of.”

Harrison is in his third consecutive season on loan at Leeds from Manchester City.

Football Insider revealed in December the Whites have already negotiated a permanent deal.

In other news, Leeds United have scheduled talks with a 27 goal/assist forward after a £6million rival deal agreed.
