Pundit can't believe new Jude Bellingham development amid 'huge' Liverpool source reveal

Noel Whelan has claimed an impressive World Cup will make no difference in the Liverpool pursuit of Jude Bellingham as they are already convinced of his quality.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, warned the 19-year-old’s price tag could spiral over the next month if he continues to star for England.

Bellingham scored his first Three Lions goal in his first World Cup game as Gareth Southgate’s side started the tournament with a 6-2 win over Iran on Monday (21 November).

Football Insider revealed last week (17 November) that Liverpool are willing to commit a huge sum to securing the landmark signing of the Dortmund superstar.

Rival clubs including Real Madrid, Man City and Chelsea are all interested – but it is understood that the Merseysiders are in “pole position” after forging a strong relationship with Bellingham’s camp.

Dortmund will reportedly demand £130million in order to part with the 19-year-old.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think he’s already proven he’s worth that price tag.

“He’s already shown, at club level, that he can control a game at the tender age of 19 – Liverpool know that he’s the real deal already.

“He dictates the game, and that’s what good players do.

“Bellingham showed a really mature performance against Iran. He took the ball, took responsibility, he was creating, defending – he ticks every box.

“But with these great performances going out worldwide – they might not be the only giants going in for him.

“The league performances between now and the end of the season could make or break this deal.

“If they’re serious about signing him, that price tag could just go up and up in the next month.”
